Preview Report:
North Ferriby VS
Seaham Red Star FC
FA Vase - 3rd Round Fixture -
PLEASE NOTE: THIS IS AN ALL-TICKET FIXTURE
North Ferriby are back in action on Tuesday evening when they entertain Seaham Red Star at the Dransfield Stadium in the Third Round of this seasons Buildbase FA Vase. Ferriby go into this game on the back of a well deserved 2-0 league win over Worsborough Bridge just before Christmas.
In the Vase so far Ferriby have seen off four teams all of whom have been from the Northern Counties West League to make it this far. They have all been stern tests for Chris Bolder and his charges and the visit from the North East by Seaham will be no different but he knows he has a squad capable of making it through to Round Four.
“We know teams from the North East are always formidable and they do like to focus heavily on such competitions as the Vase, Trophy and FA Cup,” said Bolder.
“They are in a league above us but haven’t fared very well so far but this is something we are not focusing on, we are looking at how they have performed in the cup. They may have not won many league games but to go away for Barnton in the last round and score four without conceding is some achievement.
“It will be a tough game but as we always say we will fancy beating anyone on our pitch and we are certainly looking forward to it. The other great thing for us is to have a very vocal support behind us, there may not be many of them but we know they are right behind us.”
Ferriby have already beaten St Helens Town 2-0, Northwich Victoria 3-2 and Lower Breck 2-1 all at home with a 5-4 penalty win at Wythenshawe through goalkeeper Jordan Douglas’s heroics. They now turn their attentions to Northern League opposition, a further tough proposition.
Seaham Red Star are currently 19th out of 20 in their respective league but their form in the FA Vase is totally opposite to see them at the Dransfield on Tuesday night. They beat Garforth Town 6-5 on penalties before an away win at Irlam followed by the win at Barnton.
Bolder will be without midfield playmaker Jamie Forrester side lined with a knee injury picked up just before half-time against Lower Breck. Josh Dennett is also missing due to an ankle injury with recent signing Eddie Rogerson unavailable due to being cup-tied.
There will be a welcome return to the side for Gary Bradshaw and long term injury Jason Mycoe has now fully recovered from a facial injury received in pre-season. The incentive for the Villagers to win this game is a home tie in Round Four against another Northern League side in West Auckland.
