Preview Report:
North Ferriby VS
Albion Sports
North Ferriby FC continue their preparation for the 2020-21 season when NCEL Premier Division side Albion Sports visit the Dransfield Stadium on Saturday.
Ferriby go into this game on the back of a 2-2 home draw last Saturday with a Curtis Woodhouse managed Gainsborough Trinity. Ferriby took a 2-0 lead going into half-time with a Scott Phillips header and a Danny East penalty but Trinity, a team three divisions above, replied with two second half goals.
“It’s a case of fine tuning things from what we have done in the number of sessions and games we’ve played so far,” said Ferriby Manager Chris Bolder.
“We have played five fixtures already and have managed to implement what we have wanted to and I’m really happy with the way things are progressing. It’s now about consolidation ahead of the new season adding to the great strides we’ve already made.”
Bolder has also been impressed with his off season signings when he added: “We’ve recruited really well and the new players have settled in and really bought into what we want to do. There are still things we need to work on and develop but these players can see what we want from them.”
Albion Sports are in the Northern Counties East League Premier Division, based in Bradford, and have played two pre-season games. Albion beat Yorkshire Amateurs 1-0 before a 5-0 away loss at Tadcaster Albion last weekend.
Ferriby have competed well in games against teams in league’s above them so far this pre-season with a 1-0 win over Northern Counties Premier side Cleethorpes Town. They have also drawn with Premiers Knaresborough 1-1 but went down to a 1-0 loss at Bottesford Town.
The only heavy pre-season defeat for the Villagers came at Bridlington Town when they were well beaten 5-0 at Queensgate. Saturday’s game will see Ferriby continue their build up to their opening game of the campaign which is an FA Vase Qualifier at St Helens Town in mid September.
