Worsbrough Bridge Athletic VS North Ferriby

Worsbrough Bridge Athletic FC v North Ferriby FC Match Preview (18.1.20)

Urban Newton

North Ferriby FC are on their travels yet again as the club face their fourth scheduled away fixture in five at Worsbrough Bridge Athletic on Saturday.

The Villagers did however play their first home game of 2020 last weekend and win 3-2. Returning winger Danny Emerton's brace and a deflected Jamie Forrester effort were enough for Chris Bolder's men to claim all three points against Armthorpe Welfare.

That was the Villagers' first match at the Dransfield Stadium since 14th December. The 260 in attendance witnessed a potential goal of the season contender from Emerton who hammered home from some thirty-five yards in a nervy, scrappy, affair.

Emerton was also handed the digiLED man of the match award after the game by former North Ferriby United manager Billy Heath.

It has been announced that the Villagers will host Chalk Lane FC on 11th February in the quarterfinals of the East Riding Senior Cup too. Hull United or Hemingbrough United will go to the winner of that.

In the reverse fixture of tomorrow's game, Ferriby were the victors. Forrester and Tom Corner got the goals in the 2-1 win, though both sides ended the afternoon with ten men each. Alfred Thompson and Corner were both shown straight red cards at the beginning and closing of the second half respectively.

Last week Worsbrough drew 2-2 with Parkgate FC. Kai Hancock's double ensured Lee Morris' side are unbeaten in the last three.

However, the Briggers are one of only two teams to not have had a clean sheet in NCEL Division One this season- the other being East Hull FC. Bridge also share the second-highest games of failing to score in over the league season so far with Ferriby of five.

The aforementioned Emerton returned in spectacular fashion last weekend after pulling out with illness late the week before. Laurence McKay could be out for a potential lengthy spell though after a collision in training. Joel Shortland filled in at left-back last Saturday.

Ferriby will be looking to continue their fine run of form, which sees them having lost just one in the last eleven, in South Yorkshire on Saturday. This is the penultimate away game before a stint of four consecutive home fixtures next month. Kick off at Park Road is at 3pm.
