Two of East Yorkshire's football clubs meet tomorrow afternoon. North Ferriby FC make the short ten-mile trip to Haworth Park to take on Hall Road Rangers.
Ferriby won 1-0 at home to Nostell Miners Welfare last time out. Debutant Andy Taylor, who has over forty Football League appearances with Grimsby Town to his name, scored the only goal.
"First half we were outstanding and we created a good half a dozen really good opportunities… We couldn’t seem to quite get a grip of the second half but we had to defend and we did well," said manager Chris Bolder.
"You saw the quality that Taylor has got out wide. He will get better the more he plays, the fitter he becomes."
It was just hours before kick-off when the Villagers announced the double signing of not only Taylor but Levi Tarbotton, formerly of Barton Town, too.
Bolder praised the two on their first starts for the Grange Lane club, saying that they slotted in superbly. Centre-back Tarbotton was also described as "colossal" in the wake of that victory over Nostell.
After two wins in the first three fixtures of this NCEL Division One season, the wait for Hall Road to claim their third win continues.
Rangers drew 1-1 at Retford FC last Saturday. Dan O'Connor's fourth goal of the campaign saw Leon Sewell's men pick up a point after going a goal down in Nottinghamshire.
Sewell himself was very pleased with the performance and stated that his side were the better of the two teams.
Tomorrow's clash is the first time the two clubs have met since Ferriby's reformation in the Summer. These two last encountered each other in the East Riding Senior Cup back in November. James Williamson's 90th minute effort was enough for North Ferriby United to win 1-0.
Kick-off is 3pm at Haworth Park and Ferriby manager Bolder is adamant his team can perform to their utmost: "It's a local derby but we will just go about our business as always and hopefully put in a good showing."
