Bridlington Town VS North Ferriby
Bridlington Town 5 - 0 North Ferriby FC
Story of the match
Chris Bolder shuffled his pack following the 1-0 victory over Cleethorpes Town last Saturday, making no less than nine changes to his starting line-up. The outing provided valuable minutes for a number of the players looking to impress the manager, but sadly, the game will be largely remembered for the individual errors that attributed to at least four of the goals as the team ultimately slipped to a heavy 5-0 defeat.
Not wishing to take anything away from Bridlington who were excellent on the night and thoroughly deserving of their victory, but for some of the Ferriby line up they didn’t do their chances of making the managers first choice 16 man squad any favors. Indeed, there wasn’t any real urgency shown until Bolder made 6 late changes when the side were already 4 down and by then playing with just 10 men following the dismissal of Gary Bradshaw.
Already two down after the first 45 minutes, the Ferriby rearguard inexplicably gifted their opponents two more within 10 minutes of the re start, effectively ending the game as a contest. Perhaps the night was summed up best when on 80 minutes a sweeping Ferriby move involving four of the late substitutes ended with Danny Emerton blazing over the crossbar with the goal at his mercy.
Goal scorers for Town were: Danny Earl(2), Chris Jenkinson, Billy Logan and Alex Stock.
Game played behind closed doors.
North Ferriby FC: Douglas, Bradshaw, Shortland, Kirk, Corner, McCaffrey, Oliver, Leyland, McKay, Tilsley and Piercy. Substitutes: Exall, Healey, Emerton, Forrester, Hutchinson, Tarbotton, Phillips and Buttle.
